Scandia 80K BTU gas sauna heater is suitable for saunas up to 1680 cubic feet.
You can choose your Scandia gas sauna heater between liquid propane and natural gas with a standing pilot light or piezo ignition system.
Are there any advantages of choosing a gas sauna heater compared to an electric one?
Gas sauna heaters tend to heat up a little bit faster than electric sauna heaters. Depending on your area, running the sauna with gas tend to be cheaper than running an electric sauna.
Made in the USA since 1964
Note: Your Ultra Sauna Gas heater must be installed only by a licensed HVAC professional.
Note: if your exterior wall is thicker than 5.5", you need gas extension kit with your heater.

These gas sauna heaters are trusted by many health centres, spas and gyms across the globe. In the US, Scandia gas sauna heaters have been sold to every single state in the US.
Timers
Comes with 60-minute timer. For commercial facilities, we recommend getting the 24-hour gas sauna heater timer so you can run your sauna on a schedule and/or longer at one go. You can find the 24-hour timer here.
Choosing Vent Direction
Horizontal is easiest to install and recommended.
Vertical installations require the client to consult with a Certified HVAC tech to design the vent run. That is not something we do, as local code varies from state to state and city to city.
Ignition Types Explained
The difference between a standing pilot light and a piezo ignition system pertains to how they ignite the gas in your sauna heater.
-
Standing Pilot Light: This is the traditional method of igniting a gas heater. The standing pilot light is a small flame that burns continuously, ready to ignite the gas when the heater is turned on. This system is reliable and simple, but it does use a small amount of gas even when the heater is not in use. Because of this, they are less energy-efficient compared to electronic ignition systems.
-
Piezo Ignition System: This is a modern, more energy-efficient method of igniting a gas heater. Piezo ignition systems generate a spark (without the need for electricity or batteries) to ignite the gas when you turn on the heater. This spark is created by the piezoelectric effect, which occurs when certain materials (like crystals or ceramics) generate an electric charge in response to applied mechanical stress. In the case of a piezo ignition system, the mechanical stress is usually applied by pushing a button.
Gas or Electric Sauna
Gas and electric sauna heaters are two popular methods for heating a sauna, each with its distinct features and benefits.
Electric Sauna Heaters:
- Convenience: Electric heaters are widely used due to their ease of installation and the ubiquitous availability of electricity. They are often considered more convenient because they can be turned on with the flip of a switch and typically require less maintenance.
- Control: They offer precise temperature control and often include built-in timers and thermostats.
- Efficiency: Modern electric heaters are energy-efficient and can heat a sauna quickly.
- Space: They take up less space than gas heaters and can be more suitable for smaller saunas or home use.
Gas Sauna Heaters:
- Fuel Cost: Gas heaters may be less expensive to operate depending on local gas prices compared to the cost of electricity.
- Heat Quality: Some enthusiasts prefer the type of heat produced by gas heaters, considering it to be softer or more penetrating.
- Heating Capacity: They are often more powerful, making them suitable for larger saunas or outdoor saunas that require more robust heating solutions.
- Installation: Installation can be more complex, as it requires access to a gas line and proper ventilation for safety.
In summary, electric sauna heaters are known for their convenience and ease of use, making them suitable for smaller saunas and home use, while gas sauna heaters are often favored for their cost-effectiveness and performance in larger or outdoor installations. Safety, local energy prices, and personal preference will heavily influence the choice between a gas and an electric sauna heater.
